Deer Hunting Lodge at Ohio Whitetail Deer Outfitters
Our Whitetail lodge sits high on a hill, among Oak and Maple trees, at the end of a long private drive way. You can see Seneca Lake down the valley from the large elevated decks. It is a very picturesque setting.
We have taken a 1970's era home and transformed it into a very comfortable hunting lodge.
We offer a fully equipped kitchen for you to prepare your meals. There's a large refrigerator, electric range, microwave, crock pot, 2 coffee makers, and complete set of pots and pans, dishes, silverware and utensils. There is a large gas grill on the north deck if you want to do some barbequing. The lodge floor plan is roomy and open - with cathedral ceilings. There's also a lot of windows! It is not unusual to see deer and turkeys in the yard. The upstairs lounge offers a color TV & VCR/DVD Player, and comfortable furnishings. The downstairs lounge offers the same. There is not network TV, you might want to bring some movies of your own, however, we do provide a large selection for you to enjoy. The lodge is decorated with a lot of wildlife prints, mostly Whitetail and Turkey, and some mounted Whitetails. I made a custom antler chandelier to hang over the upstairs dinner table. There is a lot of room upstairs and downstairs, a lot of room to relax and tell deer hunting stories, play cards, or watch a hunting movie.
We offer several bedrooms and bathrooms. We provide all linens, pillows, blankets, towels, washcloths, etc. You provide your personal items. There is no smoking allowed inside the lodge out of respect for our non-smoking guests and the fact it is Ohio state law. But, there are 3 large decks outside, 2 of them are under roof, so this is our designated "Smokers Lounge". It works out well.
The lodge has a wood burner for those of you that want to enjoy a cozy fire in the evening, this is the primary heating source for the lodge.
The utility room has a large 2 basin sink to wash up in if you are really dirty (like after field dressing). It offers a washer and dryer for our clients to use as needed, an extra refrigerator for clients to store extra food or drink. It even has a chest freezer for you to store your meat or cape if you need it. I might point out here that a friend of mine offers complete deer processing and we have 2 large walk in coolers at the other lodge should we have warm weather and need cold storage.
At Ohio Whitetail Outfitters, we have all the bases covered for proper handling of meat and capes. Should there be warm weather, or if you tag out the first day and your buddy doesn't until the last day. We have coolers, freezers, and Butchers and Taxidermists on hand if you need them.
At the Whitetail Lodge, we have 3 other buildings that we use. The "shop" as we call it is insulated and finished with concrete floors. We use it for clients to store tree stands and other bulky equipment. The center barn is a wood structure with high ceilings. It is a good place to hang deer for skinning or storage if the weather is cool. The "stable" is used for dry firewood storage and for the clients to park their ATV's. It has concrete floors and big sliding doors, a good setup for the quads!
Bow hunters should bring a target for double checking your equipment. There are many safe places to practice and we have a rifle range for the gun hunters to double check their equipment. As a professional guide, I insist that my clients always take a couple of shots after traveling with their hunting equipment. You and I work long and hard to get that shot opportunity, and we want to know that the hunting equipment is still on. Anyway, we have the place to double check or practice.
As I have learned on many of my own hunting trips a warm comfortable camp always makes a hunt so much more enjoyable, we have tried to make this the perfect Deer Hunting Lodge.
MEALS
You will be providing your own meals, we have a complete kitchen to work with, two refrigerators and one chest freezer so you can prepare and bring frozen or refrigerated meals or casseroles and we have plenty of room to store them till you cook or reheat them. Also you have a very nice family restaurants only 3 miles away (The Cove), it sits on the edge of Seneca Lake or at the town of Senecaville or Buffalo you have Deli's, subs, pizza joints, Subway, carry outs and the Buffalo Grill has very good food and specials every night, all this is less that 10 miles from camp, so bring a couple of prepared meals for supper and you can go out a few nights and have some cold cuts for lunch, preparing you meals can be kept pretty easy!
Here are just a few meal & casserole suggestions to bring to camp. Lasagna, Home made Vegetable soup, Chili, pasta salad, Beef stew, Cabbage rolls, pot roast etc. you know what you like. We also have an outside barbeque grill on the north patio to cook some steaks or burgers, chicken, and maybe some Fresh Venison Tenderloins!
